Discover Yourself
Acceptance is the first step toward becoming a successful misfit. The next step is to decide how you can convert what makes you different into a product or service. I say product or service because you are going to go through the same process a company would when it sells a new shampoo or soft drink. You’re not selling home products, but selling yourself - your skills and knowledge and what makes you different.

Finding Your Product
Deep down is where you will find some answers. If you stop and reflect on your differences, you will remember what you like doing, what you love and what is part of your soul.
You may also get a clue if you go back to your childhood, your school life or your first work experiences. We were often enthusiastic and excited about what was possible. Kids want to be firemen. Students want to change the world. Interns want to know how to get to the top. But we often get worn down as we find that we’re not valued and respected. What we thought was important turns out to be unimportant to our professors or bosses. So, we give up.
Now is a good time to pick up the pieces. Look back at what made you happy, what made your heart soar and what gave you a buzz.
If you are still stuck, then think about your life. What are your hobbies? What interests you? What voluntary work do you do and love? How do you spend time off? With your family, friends or co-workers? Often you will be spending time away from work doing what you really like. This may be connected to what makes you different.
